Position Overview:

As the Tax Partner at HBS LAW, you will lead the firm’s Tax Practice, offering strategic direction, high-level tax advisory, and compliance services to our top-tier clients. Your leadership will drive excellence in tax planning, client service, regulatory compliance, and team development while contributing to the firm’s growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Advanced Tax Advisory:
– Offer advanced tax planning and advisory services, with a focus on Cambodian tax legislation.
– Handle complex tax issues, including international tax matters, transfer pricing, and M&A tax considerations.

2. Compliance and Risk Management:
– Oversee compliance with Cambodian tax laws, ensuring accurate and timely tax filings.
– Identify and mitigate tax risks, advising clients on potential impacts of regulatory changes.

3. Client Relationship Management:
– Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients.
– Provide tailored tax solutions to meet the specific needs of diverse clients.
– Act as the primary tax advisor for high-profile and complex client engagements.

4. Team Leadership and Development:
– Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
– Ensure the professional development of team members through training and coaching.

5. Business Development:
– Contribute to the growth of the tax practice through business development activities such as producing articles, providing legal insights, and drafting legal updates.
– Participate in seminars and workshops as a subject matter expert.

6. Research and Analysis:
– Keep abreast of developments in Cambodian and international tax laws.
– Conduct in-depth research and analysis to inform strategic tax planning.

7. Administrative:
– Punctuality: present during working hours.
– Timesheets: completing timesheets every day.
– Comply with all the Firm’s internal policies and regulations: including requesting leave ahead of taking leave and complying with the Firm’s dress code, among others.
– Performance management: actively participate in the Firm’s continuous performance management system.
– Office: follows the Firm’s confidentiality and security practices. Maintain building and equipment in good condition.

Requirements:

1. Education and Certification:
– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related field.
– Professional tax or accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CTA) is essential.

2. Experience:
– At least 10 years of experience in tax advisory, with a significant portion in a senior role.
– Proven track record in handling Cambodian tax matters and dealing with regulatory authorities.

3. Skills:
– Comprehensive knowledge of Cambodian tax laws and international taxation principles.
– Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
– Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
– Fluent in English and Khmer (proficiency in Mandarin is a plus).

4. Leadership Qualities:
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team of professionals.
Strong client management and business development skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple engagements.
